Financial Highlights
In order to keep overhead costs at a minimum, TAPIN does not pay any salaries. TAPIN continues to run on the efforts and help from unpaid volunteers. Nearly all of TAPIN’s supplies, materials and computer components are donated by local individuals, businesses and organizations. Items TAPIN purchases are scarce components like newer modems, which are not donated in sufficient quantities.
Technology Assisting People In Need has received a number of grants, which have aided TAPIN in special programs/projects, buying special test equipment or software, and buying tools and components. TAPIN has not received any monetary support or grants from local, state, or federal government programs. The grants received have been awarded to TAPIN through special funds, organizations, businesses, and foundations.
Two of TAPIN’s projects have been supported by grants from the Community Technology Fund of Ohio. CTF was established as a result of the settlement agreement in the SBC/Ameritech merger case in Ohio. TAPIN’s Rural & Poor Neighborhood Outreach Program was supported by CTF with a $ 50,000 grant in September 2001. CTF also funded TAPIN’s High School Science Experiment Program with a $ 10,000 grant in May 2002 for schools in areas of Adams, and Brown Counties.
TAPIN’s work has also been nationally recognized and rewarded by the Association of Personal Computer Users Groups (APCUG). In 2001 and 2002, TAPIN received $ 500 “Jerry Awards” from APCUG for the organizations positive productive work and for having the “Best Ongoing Project.”
TAPIN’s reoccurring operational costs (rent, insurance, telephone, Internet access, gas & electric, water) have been covered by individual donations to the general fund. TAPIN needs additional monetary support in order to continue to help others for years to come. If you are interested in making a donation to TAPIN’s positive and powerful cause, please use the Donations link for more information.
